San Gaspar was given one of the first certificates issued by the Mexican government to post it as a national priority property because of its ecological, historic and touristic value
The design of the golf course was submitted to a contest among the best designers of its times. Most prominent were the designs of Percy Clifford, Larry Hughes and Joe Finger. Finally Joe Finger design was chosen. Creator of some of the ideal holes voted by the U.S. PGA tour. Finger conceived San Gaspar with 18 holes, par 72 over 7,000 yards and a practice tee with over 300 yards.
Woodlands magazine recently published a study of 30 world experts assembled world by Golf Publishing in California to rank the top Mexican clubs. Club de Golf Hacienda San Gaspar won first place of the sputhern zone of the country, by design, golf quality, facilities and services.
